Our Story
How Recovery to Careers began — and where we're going.
The Beginning
Recovery to Careers was born from a simple, urgent observation: people in recovery from substance use disorder face enormous barriers to meaningful employment — not because of a lack of will or capability, but because of a lack of coordinated support. The gap between getting clean and getting to work has cost our communities immeasurably.
Our Mission
R2C exists to close that gap. We bring together recovery organizations, trade schools, continued education providers, and recovery-informed employers into one integrated platform — building a real pathway from the first day of sobriety to the first day of a meaningful career.
The ReCrews Model
Our flagship program, ReCrews, places participants in real work environments alongside a recovery-trained supervisor. Funded through WIOA, participants earn wages and build real-world skills while remaining supported in their recovery journey. Employers pay R2C, and R2C handles everything — insurance, transportation, supervision, and ongoing coaching.
The Technology
The R2C platform brings every stakeholder — participants, recovery center staff, coaches, educators, and employers — into a shared digital ecosystem. The Recovery Navigator maps every resource in a participant's area. The Recovery Roadmap gives them a visual, interactive pathway forward. Awards and milestones celebrate every step. And the learning management tools help recovery centers run a world-class workforce development program.
Where We're Going
We are growing our network of partner organizations, trade schools, and employers across the country. Every new partnership means more participants get access to the support they need. Every career launched is proof that recovery works — and that work is part of recovery.
